A Red Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse when the light filtering through the Earth?s atmosphere dapples the moon in red light. A penumbral lunar eclipse occurred on the 11th of February 2017 during harvest. Fruit from the Mangan Vineyard was hand harvested, fermented naturally and basket pressed to French oak.
Tasting Notes:
A blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot, this vintage of Mangan is in fine form. Bright, fleshy blackberry notes perch alongside dried flowers, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and menthol. The palate is powerful, laced tightly with chalky herb-flecked tannins, the fruit and spice clinging to its coattails. Neatly structured with texture and freshness, this could hold its own against boldly flavored, spicy cuisine like an Indian curry, but could also cellar until 2030.
