The magnificent and imposing Chateau Cantenac Brown owes its style to the English Renaissance (the Tudor style) as well as its name to John Lewis Brown, who purchased it in the nineteenth century. Bought in 2006 by Axa Millésime, Chateau Cantenac Brown became the property of the British businessman Simon Halabi. Château Cantenac Brown is a Troisième Grand Cru Classé (Third Growth) of Margaux (thus, on the left bank) in the Bordeaux classification of 1855. The vines are planted over 48 hectares on the graves of the Cantenac plateau at a density of 8.500 to 10.000 vines per hectare and are treated with lutte raisonnée (meaning with a reasonable use of chemicals). The varietals that comprise the blend are 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
Tasting notes:
Its aromas are powerful, with notes of spice, red & black fruit and freshness. Its tannins are both dense and fine. A wine with a beautiful tension on the finish and a high ageing potential.
