“A strong effort from Berliquet, the 2010 was fashioned from yields of 23 hectoliters per hectare by the managing consultant, Nicolas Thienpont and Stephane Derenoncourt. Composed of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers copious aromas of sweet kirsch liqueur, underbrush, plums and black cherries. This mineral-laced, deep, medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, broad, savory St.-Emilion exhibits more power and depth than past vintages. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.”

The elegant, expressive bouquet reveals notes of black fruit and toast, preparing the way for a full-bodied attack on the palate. The wine then develops into firm, smooth tannins, requiring a long period of aging to open up.

Tasting notes:
Deep, dark almost opaque ruby-red color. The restrained dark-fruit on the nose is both chocolatey & leafy. Rich, leafy Cabernet Franc seems to dominate the palate. The wine is mid-weight & nicely structured though the fine tannins are currently a little angular & drying. Alcohol is balanced & there is plenty of acidity & freshness ensuring it lasts well.
