The 2024 Château Angélus is a landmark vintage for the estate, marketed as “L’Imprévisible” (The Unpredictable) to honor Hubert de Boüard’s 40th vintage. It signals a stylistic shift toward greater elegance and freshness rather than heavy extraction, resulting in a “linear” and mineral-driven Saint-Émilion that reflects its limestone terroir.
- Aging: Merlot is aged in 100% new French oak, while half of the Cabernet Franc is aged in large 30hl foudres to preserve freshness and integrated oak character.
- Nose: Intensely aromatic with black cherry, plum, violet, and peony, accented by minty and spicy nuances.
- Palate: Medium-bodied and energetic. It features “chalky” minerality and a long, saline finish with notes of licorice and graphite.
- Drinking Window: Estimated between 2029 and 2054
