Vina Almaviva EPU 2019

Critic tasting note: (2019 vintage) “A charming nose on this Epu from a season that was rather warm in Puente Alto, in Alto Maipo. It smells of ripe red and candied black fruits and sweet spices. The palate is ripe, with very polished and elegant tannins, very much in the style of this house. It’s friendly and well-balanced with succulent fruit flavors and enveloping warmth. This year, the blend is 84% cabernet sauvignon, 13% carmenere, 2% merlot, and the rest is cabernet franc. It was aged for a year in second-use barrels. Epu is the second wine of the house and corresponds to more or less 20% of the production of Almaviva’s 79 hectares—65 in Puente Alto and 14 in Peumo.” – Patricio Tapia – Descorchados
