Timah is a brand of blended whiskey made in Malaysia and is owned by a local Malaysian company, Winepak Corporation. Timah Double Peated whisky is carefully crafted with two imported aged peated malts and a neutral sugar cane spirit found locally in Malaysia. Timah’s Master Blender combines these components resulting in the distinctive taste of Timah which is light, fruity, and smoky.
On the bottle of each Timah whiskey is the face of Captain Tristram Charles Speedy. Captain Speedy was a British Army officer born in India, whose father is also a British Army officer. In 1871, Captain Speedy travelled to the Straits Settlements in Malaya and became superintendent of police on the island of Penang.
Historically, Captain Speedy also founded one of Malaysia’s most beautiful and oldest town in Perak, which he named ‘Taiping’. The name in Hokkien translates to ‘Everlasting Peace’. The spirit of adventure captured in the feats of Captain Tristram Speedy is warmly encased in the light embers of Timah.
Timah Double Peated is Malaysia’s first double peated blended whiskey and bottled with standard 40% ABV. This bottle has won a Silver medal in the San Francisco World Spirits competition in 2020, Silver medal in the International Spirits Challenge U.K in 2020, another Silver medal in the International Wine and Spirit competition and finally a Gold medal for Best Malaysian Whisky in the International Whisky competition.
