Chateau Pichon Lalande is well known to everyone in the wine industry. The winery is located in Pauillac, the essence of the left bank, next to the five major wineries Latour. As the name suggests, the wine is elegant with feminine beauty, gentle and tactful. It is unique among the masculine Bordeaux wineries.
The history of Chateau Pichon Lalande can be traced back to the 17th century, when the daughter of the Rauzan family married Jacques François de Pichon Longueville who was the Speaker of the Bordeaux City Council. This land was also given to the Pichon family as a dowry and became the original vineyard. The entire 18th century manor was handed over to the hostess to take care of it. With their careful care, it was rated as a second-class estate in 1855.
In 1978, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing took over this beautiful manor. Under her leadership, the production and international reputation of the Château du Picheon rose rapidly, fully demonstrating its second-class estate. Some experts even call Pichon Lalande as Super Second which shows the excellent quality of its red wine. In the past, the winery preferred to add a higher proportion of Merlot grapes when brewing, so that Pichon Lalande wines can show rich fruit flavors and soft and elegant taste when they are young.
