Katnook Estate is a well-regarded wine estate located in the South Australian region of Coonawarra. It is well known for its prime location, lying in the heart of Coonawarra’s famous terra rossa soils – a long strip of red, loamy, fertile soil that overlays chalky limestone. In line with other producers in the region, Katnook makes the majority of its wines from Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The distinctive and age-worthy claret-like Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from prime terra rossa vineyards, established around 1970. After classic vinification the wine is matured in new and seasoned French and American oak for 15 to 18 months. Intense blackcurrant and mulberry aromas, generous pure fruit flavours, fine-grained but vigorous tannins, and underlying mocha notes are typical of the style
Tasting notes:
An easy-drinking Coonwarra Cab, with regionally characteristic notes of cassis, cedar and mint. It’s medium in weight, with a finish that turns tart and tea-like.
