Kaiken is a wine producer located just to the south of Mendoza, Argentina. They produce a large array of wines, primarily from Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine portfolio of Kaiken covers several styles. Along with several varietal wines in the Reserve, Ultra and Terroir Series names, Kaiken makes a prestige cuvée called Mai, which means “first” in the language of the Pehuenches, the people who first inhabited Mendoza. This wine is 100-percent Malbec from Kaiken’s three Mendoza vineyards, aged for 18 months in new French oak and then for a further two years in bottle before release. The company’s vineyards are all planted on the edge of the Andes Mountains to a range of classic Argentinian grape varieties like Malbec, Bonarda, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting notes:
A Clear Ruby red color. Mid-intense aromas of ripe black and red fruits with notes of oak, clove, pepper, chocolate, tobacco. Medium body wine, well-balanced, with nice acidity and alcohol matching lively, smooth tannins. A robust and velvety finish.
