The Virginie de Valandraud is a second wine from Chateau Valandraud, one of the most prestigious estates in Saint-Emilion. It is made from a blend of the same grapes as the first wine, but with a slightly lower proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The result is a wine that is more approachable and less tannic than the first wine, but still retains the richness and complexity of a great Saint-Emilion.
Tasting notes:
The Virginie de Valandraud 2022 is a deep ruby red color with a nose of ripe black fruits, vanilla, and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with flavors of black cherries, plums, and licorice. The tannins are present but well-integrated, and the finish is long and satisfying.
